Closing date: 03 Mar 2014 The Role We are seeking applications from active research scientists in the area of Molecular Biosciences. We will consider applications from those who are looking for their first academic post as well as from individuals who already have hold a permanent or fixed-term position in a UK or overseas academic or research institution. We also wish to encourage applications from those that hold a major research fellowship (e.g. MRC Career Development Fellowship, Leverhulme Trust Early Career, Wellcome Trust Research Career Development Fellowship, Long-Term EMBO Fellowship etc). The Person The appointee will deliver both research and teaching and be based within the School of Biosciences. Furthermore, the appointee will be expected to obtain research funding in their area of expertise to fully support the position, publish in high impact peer-reviewed journals and develop cross-disciplinary projects with colleagues across the Sciences faculty. The School The School of Biosciences is part of the Faculty of Sciences and teaches undergraduate degree programmes in Biochemistry, Biology and Biomedical Sciences, complimented with a portfolio of postgraduate programmes both taught and research focussed. The School also strongly profits from its close links with the East Kent Hospitals NHS Trust Pathology Service. The School of Biosciences opened in 1970 and was founded on the principle that considerable benefits are to be gained through exploiting multidisciplinary approaches to biological research and enterprise activities. The School, which is consistently ranked in the top 30 biological science Schools in the UK, houses a dynamic research community made up of 15 research groups each with a strong national (and in many cases international) reputation for their research. This environment also provides an excellent setting for our postgraduate training programmes at the PhD and MSc level. Research in the School is focused on molecular and cellular biosciences and spans both basic research and clinical applications.
