Applications are invited for the position of postdoctoral research
associate at the Research Center of Cancerology of Marseille (CRCM) in the
team of Vincent Géli. The laboratory focuses on the understanding of the
mechanism that maintain telomeres homeostasis and the response to
telomeres erosion in budding and fission yeast. Genome stability, checkpoint
response and DNA repair are related aspects of our research. Recently we
have investigated the stability of telomeres in non-dividing (quiescent) fission
yeast cells. In absence of replication, we have observed that short telomeres
are able to rearrange. The successful applicant will investigate the
mechanisms of rearrangement of telomeres in quiescence at the molecular
level and delineating their genetic requirements. Other aspects of genome
stability in quiescence are included to this project.
Candidates must have or be in the process of submitting a Ph.D in a
relevant biological science. The candidates should have an experience in
molecular biology and genetics. Expertise in telomere field or genome stability
would be an advantage but is not essential. The applicant will work
autonomously but is expected to collaborate with other group members.
Highly motivated candidates are expected.
Proteomic and microscopy facilities are available on site. CRCM is a
well-organized institute with excellent infrastructures. The institute is located
in the south area of Marseille accessible by public transportation and nearby
down town. Beaches and the Parc National des Calanques are located in the
vicinity of the Institute
