Mechanisms of antigen presentation by the MHC
class I like-molecule, MR-1, and its recognition by MAIT cells.
This project is performed in
collaboration with Prof. Jim McCluskey (University of Melbourne) and Jamie
Rossjohn (Monash University), to which the Research Fellow will also report.
The project will examine:
(i)
The
cells responsible for presentation of MR-1-restricted antigens in the
steady-state and in response to infection, inflammation or stress.
(ii)
The
folding, assembly, intracellular trafficking and ligand binding properties of
MR-1.

The successful candidate will
have (i) a strong publication record;
(ii) experience in using initiative and working with minimal supervision; (iii)
demonstrated ability to develop new experimental protocols; (iv) excellent
written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated by presentation of
research results at conferences, internal forums and through manuscript
preparation.
The successful candidate is
expected to collaborate with other researchers in the
Department of Microbiology and Immunology and is encouraged to build an independent research program.
