Postdoctoral Associate Position in Glycomics Analysis of Glycoproteins

*Imperial College London* -Department of Life Sciences *Faculty of Natural Sciences* *Salary scale: £32,750 - £41,540 per annum* Applications are invited for a Research Associate position to work in the research group of Professor Anne Dell FRS and Dr Stuart Haslam. The project is part of a major BBSRC-funded core grant which supports collaborative glycobiology research. You will be joining a dynamic, international, multidisciplinary research group located within the South Kensington Campus. The successful candidate will be responsible for informatics components of the research programme including the development of tools for the rapid, automatic interpretation of mass spectra and their incorporation into data bases. You must have a PhD or equivalent in a biological or computer science. Experience in biopolymer mass spectrometric analysis, glycobiology or bioinformatics are essential. You must also have experience in laboratory research or bioinformatics as evidenced through publications in peer reviewed journals and evidence of original research and achievements. You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be able to develop and apply new concepts and write clearly and succinctly for publication. You must also be able to work and collaborate within multidisciplinary research team, and have the ability to present results clearly and concisely in both written and spoken form. A high analytical capability and the ability to develop and apply new concepts are also essential. You must be able organise own work with minimal supervision and prioritise your work in response to deadlines. The ability to lead research projects in new directions, direct the work of a small research team, and motivate others to produce a high standard of work would be advantageous. This appointment is available for three years and will start as soon as possible.
