The Dimitroff Laboratory (http://dimitrofflab.bwh.harvard.edu/)
has an opening for a post-doctoral fellowship position to study how lectin-binding
carbohydrates are upregulated on malignant melanoma cells and whether these
lectin-binding structures are functionally correlated with malignant behavior. This individual will become part of an
enthusiastic team approach to solving glyco-pathobiological problems in cancer
development. Candidates with knowledge
of glycobiology and lectin biology in the context of tumor metastasis or of inflammation
are preferred, but not necessary. Having
a strong background in the performance of flow cytometry, real-time RT-PCR, cell
adhesion assays, Western blotting, gene transfection/transduction/silencing
technologies is critical. Necessary qualifications
include an M.D., Ph.D., or M.D./Ph.D. degree and excellent communication/written English skills.
