Assistant Professor Position

Molecular or Cellular Systems Biology University of Tennessee, Knoxville The Department of Biochemistry and Cellular and Molecular Biology at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of molecular and cellular systems biology. Systems biology seeks to understand and predict how molecules and cells interact and communicate to give rise to emergent properties and behaviors of biological systems. We seek applicants whose research interests lie in understanding central biological phenomena by analyzing multi-dimensional, or large-scale experimental data within a quantitative framework. Ideal candidates will integrate experimentation with biomolecules, genomes, cells, or organisms with a tailored computational approach, such as bioinformatics, in the case of an omic-centered program, and/or mathematical modeling. The successful candidate should address questions that complement existing strengths in the department (cellular and developmental biology, plant and microbial biology, structural biology, neurobiology; see http://bcmb.utk.edu/ for details). We anticipate that the candidate will also take advantage of scientific interactions with the National Institute for Mathematical and Biological Synthesis on our campus or the nearby Oak Ridge National Laboratory. A PhD in a relevant field and postdoctoral research experience are required. The successful candidate is expected to establish an innovative, externally funded research program and contribute to the departmental teaching mission at the undergraduate and graduate levels. We are seeking candidates who will actively contribute to the diversity and intercultural goals of the University. The position will start as early as August 1, 2015, and the salary will be competitive. Applications should include a brief cover letter, CV with list of publications, a 2-3 page outline of research interests, and a description of teaching interests. Please email the application as a single pdf file to bcmbsysbio@utk.edu, and arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent directly to referenceletters@utk.edu. For informal inquiries please contact Albrecht von Arnim, PhD, at vonarnim@utk.edu. Review of applications will begin October 15, 2014 and will continue until the position is filled. The University of Tennessee is an EEO/AA/Title VI/Title IX/Section 504/ADA/ADEA institution in the provision of its education and employment programs and services. All qualified applicants will receive equal consideration for employment without regards to race, color, national origin, religion, sex, pregnancy, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, physical or mental disability, or covered veteran status.

Assistant profesor position in microbial biophysics

Yale University – Microbial biophysics The multidisciplinary MICROBIAL SCIENCES INSTITUTE, a cornerstone of Yale’s new West Campus research enterprise, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the ASSISTANT PROFESSOR level to commence 1 July 2015. The position will have a primary appointment in the Department of MOLECULAR BIOPHYSICS AND BIOCHEMISTRY within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
